Company to provide management support for Bulk Petroleum and other supplies

OCTOBER 29, 2009: Vienna, VA – XIO Strategies, Inc., a supply chain management firm specializing in improving asset visibility through the use of technology, today announced that it is one of the companies that has been awarded part of a five-year, $15 million, indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract by the Defense Energy Support Center (DESC). As a part of the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), DESC’s mission is to provide the Department of Defense and other government agencies with comprehensive energy solutions in the most effective and economical manner possible.

Under the contract, XIO will support DESC in improving effectiveness and efficiency of managing the supply of Bulk Petroleum in both wartime and peacetime. XIO will also assist DESC in the procurement and management of commercial grade petroleum products, natural gas, electricity, alternative fuels, coal, and missile fuels.

“We view this contract as an important step forward in support of DESC’s goal of providing responsive logistics solutions to support warfighters and other customers at the right cost. As the organization expands its efforts to embrace energy conservation and energy security, the right processes and technologies can help make that possible,” said XIO Strategies President and CEO Mary Ann Wagner. “XIO is excited to play a role in this effort.”

XIO selected PRTM and the Oil & Gas RFID Solution Group (OGR) as strategic partners to support DESC based on their subject matter expertise and strategic thought leadership in the supply chain and energy industries.
